Description Profil

Patricia MacDonald received her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and currently works full-time at True North Psychological services as a registered psychologist and team lead. She co-facilitates group therapy programs for Veterans, first responders, and police, at Landing Strong and the Veterans Transition Network (VTN). Patricia’s current clinical interests and experience include treating adults experiencing difficulties with; anxiety disorders, depression, trauma (sexual, physical, psychological, developmental, and emotional), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), emotion regulation, and attachment related concerns. Patricia enjoys working with adult children of alcoholics (ACOA) and is passionate about helping the helpers in working with military, RCMP (police), and first responders, including assessments and treatment. She has specialized training in best practices for working with this population in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In working with individuals, Patricia values a collaborative approach built on openness and trust where people can be their authentic self – “we’re all human, no one should have to walk this road alone;” establishing a secure and stable environment is important to her. She relies on empirically validated interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CPT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), while also integrating other interventions based on the client’s individual needs.
