Description Profil
I am a licensed psychologist, registered in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB), and former President of this regulation body. I have a master’s degree in clinical psychology (University Alberto Hurtado, Chile) and previously completed a six-year program in psychology that granted me the title of psychologist in that country (Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile). I have a specialization in neuropsychology from the School Neuropsychology Institute, founded by Dan Miller, PhD., and participate in a neuropsychologist peer study group with colleagues based in Ontario. Regarding psychotherapy, I participate in a peer study group with psychologists and therapists from Mexico and France on specialized psychoanalytic psychotherapy. My professional experience includes working in the private and public areas, offering psychotherapy for high-risk populations of different age ranges (children, adolescents, adults and families) and problems: psychological, physical and sexual violence, parental neglect, attachment disorders, addictions, Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioural problems, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, among others. I have also worked with diverse populations (LGBTQ and gender not conforming; Canadian and Latin American First Nations and different cultural backgrounds). Furthermore, I conduct psychological, neuropsychological and forensic assessments. I have more than 10 years of experience in assessing personality and mental health issues, along with learning, neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive disorders, including individuals suffering from the effects of a motor vehicle accident (MVA) for insurance purposes. In the past I have conducted Gender Dysphoria assessments related to the gender transition process in some of my clients. On these domains, I have assessed more than 100 individuals of all ages. With regards to forensic evaluation, I have assessed more than 50 parents and adults and 30 children within the scope of Parental Capacity/Access and Voice of the Child assessments, and I have been summoned to testify in different cases, being granted the status of expert witness in all of them. I also have international experience as university professor, in Chile, Canada, and Mexico, on domains such as psychotherapy and clinical supervision, psychological assessment, and social psychology/sociology. I have taught psychology and social work undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervised interns and residents in psychology, residents in psychiatry, and residents in counselling therapy with regards to psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychological/neuropsychological assessment depending on the case. On other areas, I have experience and knowledge in organizational psychology and in integrating psychosocial/community approaches into clinical practice.
